We had a dream holiday when we won the Sense Raffle

We were delighted when we discovered we’d won the first prize of £4,000 in the Sense Raffle!

After discussing what we should do at some length, we decided that we’d finally visit our dream destination, China.

After flying to Beijing, we were met by our guide and boarded the bullet train to a very old town called Pingyao, where we stayed for two nights.

Our walking tour in Pingyao was led by an extremely nice guide called David. We then returned to Beijing, where our new guide Kevin was waiting to meet us off the train.

We then met the rest of the tour group, which only consisted of a charming couple from Leicester, so it was a very small group indeed!

From the Great Wall to Tibet and finally Shanghai

It was great to visit all the usual tourist sights including Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, The Great Wall, to name a few.

After this we flew to Xian where we saw the Terracotta army, which was stunning. Then we’d arranged a three day trip to Tibet.

This was everything we’d ever dreamt of; snow-capped mountains, fluttering prayer flags, and fantastic palaces to explore.

All too soon we left Tibet for a two-night cruise on the Yangtze River amidst the stunning scenery leading to the Three Gorges Dam.

We ended up in Shanghai for a couple of days before flying back home.

It was an amazing experience, and we’re so glad we went. The people were very friendly, the food was excellent, as were the hotels. It was an incredible experience!
