Volunteer

Sense Volunteering is about bringing people together to make a big difference to individuals, to groups and to the wider community.

We believe that volunteers enable us to bring people together, and provide opportunities for people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world.

Sense volunteers give us their time, enthusiasm and skills to make a real difference, enabling us to support more people with complex disabilities – our volunteers are truly incredible! We are delighted that you are considering joining our volunteer team.

Why volunteer for Sense?

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. For some, volunteering is a way of giving something back to the community or making a difference. It may be that you simply enjoy the challenge of working with others to achieve success, and volunteering may open up a new social network for you. Alternatively, it may be that you are seeking paid employment and the voluntary time that you spend at Sense will help you to achieve this. You may have skills and knowledge that you want to share to help others, or your volunteering might uncover hidden talents that you never knew you had! Whatever the reason for volunteering, you will be doing something worthwhile and rewarding in so many ways.

Our vision for volunteering

Our vision is to have a flexible, diverse volunteering offer, providing a quality volunteer experience, that values the skills and talents that people have to offer, and matches interests to connect people – creating meaningful relationships that support those with complex disabilities to participate, feel included and connected to the wider community.

Our roles

We have a variety of different volunteering opportunities available across the UK, face to face and virtual, requiring a range of different skills and with flexible time commitments. From volunteering in a Sense Shop, joining a Sense Holiday, volunteering as a Sense Buddy to giving your time to a Sense Fundraising Group, whatever your experience, skills and interests, we hope to find the right role for you.

We work together with our volunteers to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential.
