Sense Holidays

Sense is going on a summer holiday – and you can come too! Join us for an adventure where you’ll make special connections, try new things, have great fun and create lasting memories.

Every summer, children, young people and adults across the country pack their bags for a week of laughter and exciting new experiences.

On a Sense Holiday, you might try sailing for the first time, or learn how to rock climb. If you’re a thrill-seeker, you could visit a theme park and ride the rollercoasters, or spend a relaxed city break visiting cafes, museums and galleries. The possibilities are endless.

Whatever you choose to do, our experienced holiday leaders and team of fun, friendly and well-trained volunteers will be there to support you. Together, we might try things that you hadn’t even thought were possible!

I met other people and made new friends. I loved it, loved it, loved it!

When and where

Sense Holidays take place across the summer in stunning spots across England and Wales. Each Sense Holiday in 2020 will last for six nights.

You’ll stay in accessible, high quality accommodation, including outdoor activity centres, cottages, apartments and even canal boats.

The Sense approach

Every Sense Holiday is led by a skilled and experienced leader, who will work with you and your family or carers to plan a break that matches your interests and wishes. You will have all the support you need to have a fun, safe week away.

Your holiday group will include other people in your age range who share your interests and are looking for a similar holiday experience, whether that’s an action-packed activity week or a more relaxed break. We hope you'll enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, with lots of laughs along the way.

Our amazing, committed and enthusiastic volunteers complete the groups, ensuring every holidaymaker has a minimum of one-to-one support at all times, and more support if needed. All volunteers are carefully checked, including an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, and are given thorough training and preparation before each holiday.

Who Sense Holidays are for

Sense Holidays are for children, young people and adults who are deafblind or have multi-sensory impairments.

Thank you so much for making this possible for us, it made me feel completely revitalised. To leave my daughter with such competent, caring, kind people felt incredible.

Teegan’s adventure

Teegan made a great new friend on her holiday and they did loads of things together. They saw giraffes – her favourite animal – at the zoo, played loads of great games at the arcade, and plenty more besides.

Teegan’s mum told us this holiday was extra special because it was the first time Teegan spent time away from home.

In a safe environment, supported by specially trained leaders and volunteers with the BSL skills to communicate with Teegan, her mum could rest easy in the knowledge that she was having a brilliant time and having the opportunity to become more independent.
