Nominate someone for the Sense Employee Awards

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing employees. The Sense Employee Awards are our chance to celebrate the efforts of our individuals and teams over the past year.

Our Sense Employee categories are aligned to our strategy and who we are as a place to work. We are delighted to announce we have nine categories to choose from.

Note: you should only complete a nomination form for our Sense Employee Awards if you work at Sense.

The categories

  • Outstanding Contribution to International Development

This award recognises outstanding achievements of employees and partners of Sense International. The award recognises strategic and inspiring work that has raised awareness of deafblindness – as well as the quality services available to people with deafblindness and their families. The award also recognises initiatives that take innovative approaches to improve the lives of people with deafblindness and work that has changed the national government’s approach. We are keen to celebrate our ‘unsung heroes’ making exceptional contributions to work on deafblindness.

    Collaboration Award

This category recognises an employee or team who delivered excellence with others or has championed the importance of bringing one or more team together to achieve a shared goal. This could be an employee working internally with another Sense colleague or department, or with an external organisation.

  • Quality Board Award

This is a closed category. The shortlist and winner will be decided by Sense’s Quality Board. The award will go to a Sense service which has shown exemplary evidence of good practice and innovation throughout the year.

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the Year

This category was introduced for the first time in 2022 awards and recognises employees or teams across all areas of Sense, who have excelled in supporting and enhancing Sense’s vital work to promote EDI within Sense. The winner will have demonstrated meaningful contributions that resulted in championing equality, diversity or inclusion.

  • Shop of the Year

Our charity shops bring in vital revenue for Sense and provide us with a high street presence in communities across the country. This award recognises a Sense charity shop, or trading team, who have excelled this year. They may have exceeded financial targets or delivered outstanding work connecting Sense with the local community. Each of our regional divisions will recognise a regional shop with an overall national Shop of the Year being selected by Trading’s senior management.

    Innovation of the Year

This category was suggested and voted for by our employee forum members and introduced for the first time in our 2022 awards. As a forward-thinking charity, this award celebrates innovation, fresh ideas and new ways of working that have been implemented in the past year. This award is open to all departments across Sense. Which new idea from a colleague, team or employee network has been turned into a reality – and been successful?

  • Diane Cardwell Award for Professional Excellence

The award is named after Diane Cardwell, an inspirational Sense support worker and children’s intervenor who won the award back in 2013. Diane sadly passed away in 2018 and is deeply missed by all of those who knew her. This award is open for all departments within Sense and focuses on going above and beyond in their role with Sense.
