Summer Appeal 2025

The sad reality is that much of the world simply isn’t set up for disabled children with complex needs. But at Sense Hubs, that isn’t the case. Everything is carefully designed to make sure it’s a safe, fun and accessible space, so nobody feels left out.

What are Sense Hubs?

Sense Hubs are the heart of local communities, offering a huge range of activities designed for every disabled person with complex needs, as well as acting as a hub for local community groups and clubs.

We have four of these accessible community centres across the UK, alongside smaller centres offering specialised support for children, young people and adults.

We rely on donations from supporters like you to ensure the future of these Hubs. Your generosity helps build futures. And together, we can ensure that no one is left out of life.

Why support Sense Hubs for disabled children?

They provide a safe space for children to learn, play and grow

Giving disabled children a chance to participate in new activities in a safe environment provides them with a real sense of confidence and independence. They’re supported to try new things, to communicate with others, and to feel connected to the world around them.

Sense Hubs are a lifeline for parents too

Parents often tell us that they feel lost and overwhelmed trying to navigate the challenges that come with parenting a disabled child. At Sense Hubs, they have a space where they’re supported, not judged – where they can share stories, find strength, and build a network they can count on.

Right now, too many children have nowhere to go

There’s a serious lack of accessible services for disabled children. We urgently need to reach more families, in more communities. With your help, we can deliver more activities from our Hubs, so every child has somewhere to belong, and every family gets the support they need.

What do they mean to families like Charlotte’s?

Charlotte was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome when she was just a baby. Before the family found Sense, her mum Vanessa said they were worried about what the future would look like for their little girl: “We’d dare not think about the future. We didn’t know if she’d ever be able to talk or walk, or learn.”

But Sense Hub Loughborough are supporting her to use the senses she does have to communicate with her loved ones and explore the world in new ways, and she’s thrilled to meet other children like her! “There’s a whole raft of activities that Charlotte can get involved in. But more than that, Charlotte gets to see children like her.” Vanessa says.

“Looking at her now you’d never know she was a really withdrawn girl that wasn’t really interested in the world. Now she’s interested in everything!”

Help more children like Charlotte feel included

You could help us to reach more families through our Hubs and get them the support that they need. With your donation today, we can fund a new term of activities for disabled children.
