Volunteer with a social or activity group

Join a youth or sports group, get creative at a play or activity session, or lend a hand at one of our Sense Centres. There are so many ways you can get involved in your local community.

Volunteer local to you

Across England, Wales and Northern Ireland our volunteer teams bring their enthusiasm, skills, experience and time to make a tangible difference to the people and projects where they volunteer. Whether you're looking to meet new people, develop your skills and experience, give something back or try something new, we'll connect you to a role to match.

Many ways to volunteer

Here's a quick overview of the types of opportunities we regularly offer.

‘Get Out There’ groups for children and young people

If you like getting out and about, meeting new people and having a go at new activities, the Sense ‘GOT’ Groups are for you! Join young people for regular fun, new adventures and days out during the school holidays, weekends and after school.

Family days and playgroup sessions

Bring your energy and enthusiasm to our family days and play sessions and ensure activities run smoothly, that there are plenty of fun, creative activities to join in with, and that everyone can get the most out of their time together.

Arts, Sports and Wellbeing activities

Are you a fitness fanatic, outdoors enthusiast or arts lover? Accessible and inclusive cycling, yoga, rock climbing, nature walks, karate, dance and visual arts are just some of the activities running every week with the support of people just like you!

Sense Centres

Join our teams of friendly local volunteers welcoming people to our inclusive community TouchBase Centres in Birmingham, London, and Caerphilly. Help out in our cafés, support children and family activities, or join in with a wide variety of leisure activities alongside young people and adults.

Sense College

Get to know young people aged 16-25 from your local community during their college day as you take part in activities together from everyday life skills, creative and craft sessions, swimming and sport, or music and dance.

Community support for adults

Interested in friendship and building new relationships? Or do you have a skill or passion to share? Volunteers with our adult community and accommodation teams spend regular time with people who have complex needs supporting them to take part in activities they enjoy and make new connections in their local community.
