A weekend of adventure for young siblings and carers

20 - 22 April 2018

A great break for young siblings and carers aged 5-15

If you're aged 5-15 and have a brother, sister or parent with a disability, this weekend of adventure is for you.

This is an awesome chance to kick back, have fun, be adventurous and creative, and make new friends.

What activities are there?

There's a whole range of adventure activities you can do including giant trapeze, canoeing, quad biking, raft building and aero ball.

You'll also get a chance to unleash your imagination with arts and crafts activities including marbling, collage and more.

In the evening you'll get to play in the games room, watch a film in the cinema and make friends around the campfire.

The final activity programme will be determined on the availability of activities, ages and interests of the group

Accommodation

Accommodation is bunk beds in multi-bedded rooms. You’ll be sharing a room with people the same gender and a similar age to you.

Sharing with old and new friends is all part of the experience and leaders will be sleeping in separate rooms on the same corridor.

Indoor accommodation is locked at night with PGL staff and Sense leaders on hand.

Meals

All meals are served cafeteria style, and there’s plenty of choice. If you have any requirements with your diet, you can tell us in your application form.

What should I pack?

Luggage is limited to one case or bag. Much of the weekend is outside so prepare for all weathers.

You'll need;

  • comfortable clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting messy or wet
  • Your own sleeping bag, pillow and towel.

If you don't have your own sleeping bag, or other items, please tell us in the form or over the phone so we can help.

We really recommend you don't bring mobile phones or other valuables. It’s also advised you bring roll-on deodorants rather than spray cans which can set off fire alarms.

How much does it cost?

Sense is asking for a £70 contribution to the cost of each place. You'll only be asked to pay if your application is successful.

£70 includes all activities, two nights accommodation and all meals. This does not cover the cost of travel.

There is a tuck shop available, and we suggest you bring between £5 and £10 pocket money for soft drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.

We have a small bursary to support families who are not able to make this contribution. Please get in touch to discuss this further.

When and where is the adventure weekend?

The weekend takes place on Friday 20 April to Sunday 22 April at PGL, Swindon.

PGL
Liddington Fox Hill,
Swindon
SN4 0DZ

Drop off is anytime from 5pm on the Friday, and pick up is between 1pm and 2pm on the Sunday.
