Make music with Body Synth

Use your webcam to turn your body movements into sound in this weird and wonderful music session, which uses on-screen visuals to generate amazing interactive noises using Google’s Body Synth engine.

This guide is part of our Sense Arts, Sport & Wellbeing programme. This activity can be done at a time that suits you, either in your own space or in an educational setting.

Who is this for?

This is a workshop for people who are deafblind or have complex disabilities and can be enjoyed by anyone.

This is an arts workshop that helps people learn by using their senses to connect with their surroundings while building confidence and supporting self-expression.

What happens in the video?

Step 1

To do this activity, you’ll need a webcam, a room with enough space to move around, and the internet browser Google Chrome if you haven’t already got it.

Step 2

Listen to Tom’s song, ‘Making Sounds at Home’, then open a new window in Chrome and go to https://creatability.withgoogle.com/body-synth/.

Step 3

Your webcam will open and you will be able to see yourself – start moving your body to make music! Colin will give you a tutorial on how to get started.
