About Sense Centre South West

We’ve been supporting children and families from our site just outside Bristol for the past 30 years. Now, we’ve expanded the centre to include activities for young people aged up to 25 with complex disabilities, as well as siblings, young carers and families too.

Here you’ll be able to access:

  • Arts and wellbeing sessions.
  • Sports and physical activities.
  • A specialist sensory room with toys and lights.
  • A family room with accessible tech and a toy library to borrow from.
  • Free play sessions for children 0-8.
  • Specialist MSI support for children and young people aged 0-25.
  • Support for siblings and young carers.
  • Support out in the community.

Sense have enabled me to encourage Zachariah to do things that are out of his comfort zone. He’s very much a creature of habit so ‘new’ things unnerve him, but he always walks away from Sense happier, more positive, and more confident.

Why the South West?

Our groundbreaking research shows that there are around 148,000 people in the South West of England with complex disabilities.

We define complex disabilities as someone that has two or more of the following conditions and they report that their life is impacted by their disabilities: sight loss, hearing loss, autism, learning disability.

Whilst we’ve been providing support for children and young people here for some time now, renovating the center and launching new programmes has given us the opportunity to broaden our reach, supporting more people.
