Volunteering at the London Marathon

Hello

My name is Leila Touak, I am Deafblind.

Leila with Sense staff at the MarathonOn Sunday 26th April I woke up at 8.30am. I was very happy. I was excited to be a Marathon cheering volunteer for Sense. Natasha come to my house at 10am then we get bus to East Ham Station and get the train to Whitechapel Station and change the train to Shadwell Station.

We arrived Shadwell Station and walk to the Highway to find the Sense London Marathon cheering point. First we walked the wrong way and Natasha phone to Martyn to ask to find the way to go. Then we arrive the right way. I meet Hannah, Anya, Helen, Martyn, Caireen and many people.

We all cheered and have seen many people running for Sense. It was fun! I did not see Joff running. I did not see Micol from the Events team she was working in a different place. Oh! We saw Gemma Blackie running and we cheered loudly! Gemma saw us cheering and she cuddle me. I was very happy to see her running.

At 1.00pm me and Natasha have lunch then watch the more people running and cheer. Then we saw Gemma again coming the other way, and waved and cheer. It was nice day.

The Sense London Marathon have finish and we say bye bye.  We tidied up and folded the banners. Then we walked to Shadwell Station. I went with Hannah and Caireen. We get the train and change train at Whitechapel Station. We get the train to East Ham Station. We arrive to East ham station and walk home. I arrive home at 4.00pm.

I did really enjoy watch the running and cheer. I like it and I would like to come to watch the London Marathon and cheer next year. I am looking forward to it.
