Actress, passionate horse lover and Arabian horse breeder; Susan George is delighted to become the latest Ambassador for the Friends of Sense Stables.
Susan, known for an illustrious international film career, particularly her highly-acclaimed performance in the iconic film ‘Straw Dogs’, has been a horse lover practically all her life. Eighteen years ago, she and her late husband fellow actor Simon MacCorkindale formed Georgian Arabians, now a world recognised enterprise and a privately owned Arabian Stud Farm surrounded by acres of exquisite pasture and in the West Country of England.
Susan was delighted and moved to discover the Sense Stables and how they support deafblind adults to develop independence through engaging with horses for the first time.
She says: ‘I am delighted to support this wonderful cause and especially the individuals who quite obviously through such adversity, have found something to bring a smile…. I have always found horses to be trustworthy and loyal, partners who would go to the ends of the earth for you. They are the best of family and the best of friends.
It is wonderful to see how - through having access to a facility such as the Sense Stables - deafblind people can build their confidence, develop self-esteem and learn new skills by making friends with horses for the first time. I wish Sense the very best with the Stables and look forward to lending my support in raising awareness of this wonderful project’.
