Sense and RP Information Seminar
The Sense and RP Fighting Blindness Information Seminar took place on Saturday 17 May 2014.
The Sense Research team presented the findings of their Usher specific research project and shared some of the impacts and people stories that have happened as a result of this work. The attendees heard from Professor Andrew Webster, of Moorfields Eye Hospital, about the recent medical research and updates on RP and related conditions such as Usher. This fostered many questions, debates and even a few comments about eye donations for research.
Although the seminar was fairly short, there was a huge amount of information packed into one afternoon. Please see below for videos (with BSL and subtitles) of each presentation.
Professor Andrew Webster presents on the medical research into RP and related syndromes
Denise Rawden presents on RP Fighting Blindness’ helpline and telephone befriending service
Emma Boswell presents on Sense’s usher research and new peer mentoring scheme
Sue Drew presents on RP Fighting Blindness as an organisation and how they disseminate information, research and support to patients
Yemi Tadesse presents on Sense’s usher research and the impacts
