Manor Lodge Centre – services for children
Services for children and young people with sensory impairments in the east are based at the Manor Lodge Centre in Market Deeping. This renovated centre opened in August 2012 as a base for our Children’s Specialist Services team.
The centre has a sensory area, with specialist equipment and toys aimed at stimulating the senses and encouraging children to have fun. This includes a messy / wet play area where children can experience the feel of water, sand and paint. We also use the sensory room as a base for our assessments.
The family room is a relaxing space where families can sit and chat, supporting each other and sharing ideas. This can also be used as a play space, a quiet area or a base for group sessions.
Specialist sensory toys can often be expensive or difficult to find. Our toy library allows parents/carers to borrow items so they can see which ones best suit their child. Many of the toys we have bought have been made possible by donations from individuals and local organisations who support our work.
The centre also has access to a hydrotherapy pool and jacuzzi.
What happens at the Centre
We hold a monthly pre-school group for deafblind/multi-sensory impaired children and their parents/carers called Mini Magpies. The group runs the first Thursday each month from 10am – 1pm.
The centre is also used as a base for our teenage group.
The hydrotherapy pool is used each week by our after school swimming group.
Children’s Specialist Service team also run several Family Days each year. View a list of all our Family Days.
