“Sense is a very important part of my life and I am proud to be a Sense member and I enjoy taking part in many different workshops at members day every year. I love meeting new people and working with other deafblind people.”

A Sense volunteer for many years, Leila is deafblind and lives in London.

Leila began volunteering for Sense family days in December 2009, helping families and children with different activities like trampolining, art and playing games. She also volunteers at TouchBase South East in High Barnet, London.

In her role as Sense ambassador, Leila played a central role in our recent transition events organised at schools across London.  Leila also contributes a regular blog to the Sense website and helps at a number of events throughout the year, including the London Marathon.

Leila said:  “Sense is a very important part of my life. I really like the volunteer role and I enjoy being part of the events that happen during the year. These events include family days, members days and various projects or workshops that may interest me”.
