Volunteer of the year - Highly Commended

My Day

On Thursday 10th March Hannah come to my house at 10.30am. We went to Berkeley Hotel. We arrived in a small room for the drinks and snacks and met the BSL interpreter Rachel. I met Jenny Taylor from Sense who was getting an award, and Deb O’Shea. Then we went into awards room. The room and all the tables and chairs looked very nice and posh. We had lunch. For pudding we had chocolate cake with ice cream. Then we have tea and sweets. It was very nice. I met another BSL interpreter, Ryan. At 2.30pm a man called James (from Towergate Insurance) talked about the day today and a lady – her name is Sally Phillips, she talked about the people and gave the Awards. She is on the TV.

I am very happy to have got the Volunteer of Year Highly Commended certificate. I am very happy to have it. Hannah took photos of me and Jenny, me and Hannah and me and Deb.

Then we say bye bye to Deb, Jenny and the 2 interpreters. We got a taxi back to Kings Cross Sense office. I visited the Volunteering Team, Richard and the other Sense staff. I showed them my Certificate. They said they are proud of me. Hannah made me a cup of tea. Then I saw Caireen. She said she was proud of me. Then at 5.30pm Hannah and I went in her car. I was very tired but it was great day today I arrive home at 7pm.
