Four-year-old Grace is visually impaired and profoundly deaf, and she has cochlear implants to help her hear. She also has cerebral palsy, which makes it hard for her to control her arms. Starting school was difficult as it is often hard for her to work out what was going on.
How Sense supports Grace
Thanks to Sense, Grace has a dedicated ‘intervenor’ – someone to act as her eyes and ears, using signs to explain to Grace exactly what’s happening – and now she can take a full part in her class activities.
Grace’s favourite thing to do at school is messy play. She comes home with paint in her hair, on her glasses - even on her buggy.
She’s made lots of friends too - Edd calls them ‘her partners in crime’!
Your gift of £15 could pay for art & craft materials for Grace and her friends to enjoy a messy play session at our Sense family centre.
