Our 2021-2026 strategy video with audio description and transcript

Thousands of people with complex disabilities, and those who are deafblind, are still missing out on the vital support they need. And the pandemic has only made things harder. It’s made existing barriers worse and exposed new issues.

Our goal is to support ten times more people living with complex disabilities by 2026. That’s 30,000 people over 5 years. But to do that, we need everyone connected to Sense to come together in support.

[A world in orange and purple appears and turns.]

Imagine a world where everyone can take part in life

and enjoy those meaningful moments and connections that bring joy.

[A woman tactile signing on a man’s hand, a woman signing to a boy in a wheelchair, two men dancing.]

Sense exists to support people with complex disabilities, and those who are deafblind, to do just that.

[A white screen appears with nine people drawn as head and shoulder outlines in grey. Slowly each person turns orange or purple.]

But there are thousands of people who are still missing out on that vital support,

[More people in grey outline appear on the screen.]

and the pandemic has only made things harder.

[An orange screen appears. The coronavirus appears drawn in white.]

Voiceover: But there is still hope.

[Another orange screen appears with a lightbulb drawn in white.]

By 2026, our goal is to support ten times more people living with complex disabilities to take part in life.

[A white screen with more and more people appearing turning from grey to orange to purple.]

Imagine, more children and families get the best possible start.

[Young disabled children enjoying sensory play.]

More adults live and learn at every stage of their lives.

[Disabled adults enjoying art, dance, conversation with picture symbols.]

More ways of tackling loneliness and isolation.

[People connecting via video calls.]

More people have a voice who would otherwise be unheard.

[People communicating with tactile signing.]

More people inspired to take action.

[People wearing Sense orange and purple t-shirts with RidgeWalk on the front, walking across the finishing line. Two women laugh and high-five.]

[A white screen appears. Purple steps are drawn, then an upward pointing arrow.]

It’s an ambitious step change, but imagine,

[The world in orange and purple re-appears and turns.]

a world where no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is left out of life.

Together, let’s make this happen.

[Two dots are drawn. They turn into two hands connecting. This is the Sense logo.]
