Our fantastic volunteers are the lifeblood of our shops.
They take on every job enthusiastically and contribute hugely in making our shops so welcoming and friendly.
Sense shop donations come from individuals, businesses, house clearances and other sources.
We always need people to select, prepare and price the best quality items to sell, to stock the shelves, help on the till, and serve and assist customers.
Our volunteers with their individual talents and interests are responsible for creating eye-catching window displays, or categorising books and music.
Those with a passion for IT are busy with our data entry system, while volunteers with expert knowledge are always welcome to check our bric-a-brac. We recently sold a Clarice Cliff art deco vase for £950. Would you have noticed it?
Being a Sense shop volunteer is a great way to meet people. You’ll join a team of more than 1,500 people – but we can always use more pairs of hands.

Shop floor assistants / till operators A varied and interesting role - Becoming a shop floor assistant is a great way to meet new people. We are always looking for energetic people to serve customers, help on the till, put stock onto the rail, and help make our shops a friendly and welcoming place.
Window dressers Are you creative with a flare for fashion? Join our team of volunteers to help create eye-catching window displays and help our shops dress for success.
Volunteer recruiters We are looking for out going volunteers with a great personality to encourage others to join our teams across the UK. Share your experiences of giving your time for a worthy cause and help our shops recruit teams of friendly volunteers.
Gift Aid volunteers
If you have a clerical background and enjoy talking to people, we are looking for confident people to sign up Gift Aid; a great new Initiative to help raise more funds from donations of stock. Help make a bigger difference. Become a Gift Aid Volunteer today!
Stock processors
Sense shops receive donations fro individuals, businesses, clothing and book banks, house collections and house clearances. We always need people to select and prepare the best quality items to sell on the shop floor. This is a very busy but fun role – a great opportunity to make new friends across the sort table!
Book enthusiasts We are seeking passionate volunteers to maintain our book department, by selecting, pricing and displaying the very best books. An enjoyable role for a person that has a real interest in the world of books.
Music lovers What sort of music do you enjoy? Pop jazz, classical. Our shops are always looking for volunteers with an ear for music to sort stock, price and display the best items for our music sections. Help our shops create the best music collections on the high street and volunteer today.
Accessories specialists
Do you love accessories? We need volunteers with bags of enthusiasm to help select and price the best shoes, handbags and jewellery to sell on the shop floor. Be a gem and volunteer for Sense today!
Bric-a-brac experts
Can you spot a Troika from a door stop? Do you know the difference between a Picasso and a mass produced print? We always need volunteers with specialist knowledge. We recently sold a Clarice Cliff vase for £950 - would you have noticed it?
Data entry assistants
If you are interested in I.T. with an eye for detail, we have a great opportunity for you make a massive impact. If you are wanting Office experience, we can deliver that for you too.
Administrative assistants
We’re looking for well organised volunteers to support our shops at Head Office. Whether it’s paperwork, data input, your skills will be put to the test.
Volunteer drivers
If you have time on your hands and have your own car, join us as a volunteer driver to collect donations from people who are unable to bring them to the shop.
Events supporters
We need enthusiastic and confident volunteers to support our shops. Help us raise funds by promoting the various activities that we carry out every year.
Warehouse operatives Is it warehouse experience you are looking for? We can help. We have warehouses at Crayford and Peterborough. Gain valuable experience and help support a charity at the same time. Maybe you’d consider becoming a driver's helper?
