Volunteer with deafblind people

Supported Living Volunteer – Norfolk area

We’re looking for a volunteer to help out in a Sense Supported Living Accommodation in Norfolk. In the role you would be helping young deafblind adults to take part in leisure and daily living activities with the support and guidance of Sense staff. By volunteering you would help to promote and encourage independence for the deafblind people living there. Activities include cooking, gardening, craft activities and other hobbies including playing music.

Guide Help Volunteer – Suffolk and Norfolk areas

We’re looking for volunteers to support deafblind adults to attend, Sense-run social meetings (called Forums) in the Norfolk and Suffolk regions. The role is vital and will help to reduce the isolation experienced by deafblind people, enable them to share experiences with other deafblind people, gain strength from each other, have a break and have fun! Without the generous support of volunteers these meetings could not take place. As a Guide Help Volunteer you’ll get the opportunity to help at our fun Family Day for deafblind children and their parents.

Meeting Support Volunteer – Leicestershire

We’re looking for volunteers to support older deafblind people to attend monthly, Sense run, social meetings in the Leicestershire region. This is a vital role which will help to reduce the isolation experienced by older deafblind people, enable them to share experiences with other deafblind people, gain strength from each other, have a break and have fun!

Campaign Event Volunteer – Kent

We’re looking for volunteers to support deafblind adults to attend monthly, Sense run, social meetings in the Kent region. During the meetings deafblind people will develop their skills in campaigning on the issues which mean most to them. The role of Campaign Event Volunteers is vital and will help to reduce the isolation experienced by many deafblind people.

“Get Out There” Volunteers - Cornwall

We’re looking for volunteers to support young people with little or no sight and additional complex needs (including deafblindness) to take part in fun, local activities organised by the Get Out There group in Cornwall. The group helps young people to come together to "get out there" and take part in the same fun activities as other teenagers. At the same time it helps to reduce isolation for the young people. Previous activities have included a Harry Potter themed train journey, visits to an ice cream factory, cider farm, aquarium, fire station and a steam railway.
