Elliot, a young deafblind boy

Sense is running a special TV appeal for our work with children who are both deaf and blind.

You can watch the appeal or read the transcript. Please make a donation now and help us bring a child like Elliot into our world.

Sense is the leading national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind

Become a member of Sense

Join Sense today and together we can change the lives of everyone with hearing and sight difficulties. Sense membership costs £15 a year.

In July 2007 we expanded our membership scheme to include carers of older people with sensory loss. Download the leaflet (pdf, 390 KB) to learn more about the scheme.

A sense of belonging

We recognise people benefit enormously from simply talking to and supporting each other.

That's why our membership scheme offers you opportunities to meet informally with other individuals, families, carers and our own professionals.

"Having Sense on our side made such a difference when our son was diagnosed with a rare condition that causes hearing and sight problems. Sense is a great organisation and I'm proud to belong to it. I think the membership scheme can help to unite and focus people; together we can get things done."
David Levey

Keep up-to-date

We offer you the latest information on services, events, news and research findings on a wide range of conditions that cause hearing and sight difficulties.

Our lively magazine, Talking Sense, is packed with information, news on the families and individuals we work with, and thought-provoking articles.

Have a voice

Your views really matter to us. We want to know how Sense services can be improved to support you further.

We'd like your views on what government, the health service and local councils should be doing to give deafblind people and their families a better deal.

As a member, you will have a regular say in our work, and the chance to shape and join our campaigns if you wish to do so. You will also have the right to attend and vote at annual meetings, and to be involved in Council, our governing body.

There are two options for joining up. You can request an application form online or you can download and print the application form (pdf, 367KB), complete it at home and then return it to us.
