What runners say

Opening quote marksThis race is like a wild and colourful movie going by...all the different neighbourhoods, all the different spectators, it's all so vibrant and amusing and interesting. I'd strongly recommend this marathon to anyone - it has been the most unique and memorable.Closing quote marks

Opening quote marksThis marathon is worth all the rave reviews. It's wonderful in every way. The crowds are great, all the details are exceptionally organised. I smiled for 26.2 miles.Closing quote marks

Why New York?

New York is of course the city that never sleeps. During the day you can visit the classic icons such as Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and Wall Street.

How about treating yourself to some fantastic shopping and pay a visit to Tiffany’s? In the evening, you can enjoy a show on Broadway, take in a Jazz club, concert or have a meal in one of the city's many restaurants.

We have 2 packages available this year:

Sense Package

For the first package, Sense asks for a non-refundable deposit of £100 (paid direct to Sense). This guarantees your race entry and you are then responsible for booking your own flights and accommodation. This package gives you the flexibility to travel when you wish to. We ask each participant on this package to raise a minimum of £1200 in sponsorship. However, to show you how much we appreciate your support and fundraising efforts we have an incentives scheme available:

  • If you raise £1500 or more we will refund £200 towards your flight and accommodation costs
  • If you raise £2000 or more we will refund £500 towards your flight and accommodation costs.*

*All sponsorship money must be paid to Sense by 31st January 2009 to be eligible for the refund.

2:09 Events Package

For the second package we are working with a tour operator (2:09 Events Limited – ATOL bonded No. 9358). This package includes return flights, hotel accommodation in a 4-star hotel (for a 3-night stay in a shared room), airport/hotel transfers for selected flights, marathon entry, and a training day in London in September 2008. For this package you need to book directly with our tour operator, and on booking you need to let them know you are running on behalf of Sense.2:09 Events ask for a non-refundable deposit of £412 which guarantees your place in the event. You will then be required to pay a further cost in September for your flights and accommodation (depending on what package you will choose). The trip is based on a 3-night stay in a 4-star hotel (please note that the room is on a share basis), but you will be able to upgrade to a different hotel and to extend you stay up to 5 days. There is limited availability for this package.

Sense asks each participant on this package to raise a minimum of £1200 in sponsorship, but again offer an incentive scheme:

  • If you raise £1500 or more we will refund £500 towards your flight and accommodation costs
  • If you raise £2000 or more we will refund £700 towards your flight and accommodation costs.*

To be eligible for this refund you must confirm you are running for Sense with 2:09 Events on booking and return all sponsorship money by January 2009.

The trip is organised through our tour operator partner, 209 Events. For more information visit 209 Events at www.209events.com or call 0870 3500209 . The trip offered is for 3 nights and you will fly to New York on Friday 31st November and will return on Monday 3rd November. If you would like to upgrade your accommodation, bring a partner or extend your stay in New York, this will be at your own cost.

If you would like to bring a partner please let 2:09 Events know when you return the booking form direct to them so they can book you all in together to avoid confusion.

Please note that insurance is not included in either package.

Both packages include:

  • Race entry
  • A personal training plan
  • A Sense running vest
  • Expert fundraising advice
  • Publicity support
  • Tickets for the official bus to the start (a small additional fee may apply to those on the Sense package)
  • Excellent customer service
  • Sense representatives will be available 24 hours a day whilst in New York
  • We organise a variety of meet up points for our Sense runners, including sightseeing tours of New York. So if you are on your own, we do provide you with plenty of opportunities to meet and socialise with other Sense runners.

If you’d like to be part of the Sense ING New York City Marathon® 2008 team, please send through your Sense registration form (pdf, 1.9MB), regardless of what package you are on, and your £100 non-refundable deposit if you would like the Sense package.

Once you’ve registered, we’ll send you our fundraising pack which includes lots of tips and advice on how to reach your fundraising target and a training programme to ensure you make the finish line!
