Sense is an official associated charity of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2008.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is one of America’s biggest and best marathons. The marathon’s flat, loop course has long been recognised as one of the fastest in the world. It is where Paula Radcliffe smashed the world record with her time of 2:17:18 in 2002

Runners pass through fifteen different Chicago neighbourhoods, each contributing to the unique flavour of the course. This gem of a city has it all: skyscrapers, city lights, entertainment and the fun of bustling streets just minutes from lakeside tranquillity.

What runners say

Opening quote marksI love, love, love this marathon. I've run it three times and found the crowd support to be the very best of any large city marathon I've run. Organisation is very good, the course is terrific, and the expo is outstanding as well.Closing quote marks

Opening quote marksThis is the "gold standard" for marathons. The organisation, support, spectators and route were the best one could ever hope for. The citizens of Chicago were friendly and hospitable. I enjoyed the scenic and flat route.Closing quote marks

Why Chicago?

Chicago, the ‘Windy City’, is a diverse cosmopolitan city on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, packed with world-class arts and an elegant sophistication.

After the marathon, you can hit the fantastic Chicago nightlife. Have a drink or two under the stars at the Solstice Bar, or catch a show at one of the 150 theatres and then dance the night away at one of the many clubs in the area. You may just like to enjoy a well-earned rest by indulging in a choice of over 6,000 restaurants or taking a gentle walk along the 15 miles of bathing beaches.

In every block of Chicago, there is something noteworthy to see and learn about. There are over 40 museums to explore, offering major exhibitions on architecture, art, astronomy and science.

The city boasts three of the world’s tallest buildings, the highest of which is the Sears Tower, soaring 1,450 feet in the air. From the Sears Tower Skydeck, you have over 40 miles of visibility – a sight to behold with the wind rushing by you.

And for those of you who just can’t let go of your training regime, there are 18 miles of lakefront bicycle paths to enjoy.
