Kiera

Today, you can make a miracle happen

Kiera looking at water with her mumKiera is five years old. Like all little girls, she loves to play. However, Kiera experiences the fun of games, like all things, through the sensation of touch. As a deafblind child, touch is both her eyes and her ears. The tickle of a feather, the warmth of her mother’s kiss; all are experienced through the magic of touch.

However, touch can be scary. Day-to-day challenges such as not being able to tell her mum that she wants to play with a particular toy or that she is hungry is frustrating for both Kiera and her family. For Kiera, everything she does can be a challenge.

Thankfully, Kiera came to Sense, where deafblind experts were able to give her a specialist assessment. With this knowledge Sense was able to provide individual therapy to help Kiera learn how to develop, communicate and reach her full potential.

Touch alone can’t break through Kiera’s world of silence but you can.

You can help give a deafblind child the best gift of all. With a donation of just £3 a month you can help children like Kiera to finally come into our world.
