Did you know that if you are a UK taxpayer, you can choose to treat all your donations in the last four years to Sense as Gift Aid donations? This means that we can claim back from the Inland Revenue the basic tax you have already paid on income or savings and it won’t cost you a penny more.
So for every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p. That really can make a difference!
If you make a donation of £10.00, Sense receives £12.50!
What’s more, if you are a higher-rate tax payer you too can benefit since you can reclaim the extra tax when you fill in your next tax return. This means that for every £100 you donate we benefit (thanks to the Gift Aid Scheme) by £125 yet it only costs you £75. This is because you can reclaim the extra tax of 20p in the £ on the 'gross' value of the donation (i.e. what Sense gets).
So please make your gifts worth so much more to deafblind children and adults by simply ticking the Gift Aid declaration box on your donation form or send us your Gift Aid declaration form online.
About Gift Aid:
- To be eligible for Gift Aid you must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax (including tax you may pay on your savings) at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the tax year from 6 April one year to 5 April the next (currently 25p for each £1 you give).
- You only need to make one declaration, this will cover all your donations to Sense in the last four years and in the future, until you notify us otherwise.
- Sense must have a current record of your name, address and postcode in order for us to reclaim tax on your donations. Only Sense and the Inland Revenue will have access to this information.
- You must notify us if your circumstances change and you no longer pay an amount of tax equal to the amount we reclaim on your donations, or if you change your name or address.
- Gift Aid can not be applied to donations made through charity vouchers as these gifts are already tax effective.
- Payments to Sense in return for services or goods are not considered to be donations and so are not eligible for Gift Aid.
- You may cancel this declaration at any time by notifying us.
- If you are unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid or have any questions on this matter, please either contact us or visit the HMRC website and search for Gift Aid..
