The Brighton Marathon starts in Preston Park and takes in the best of the city and surrounding coastal roads - including panoramic views where the South Downs meet the English Channel.
The event received a massive response in 2011 - with entrants hailing from as far as Australia and Thailand. Over 9,000 runners are expected to participate.
About the race
The course is fast - held exclusively on roads and tarmac promenade. The entire route is traffic-free. The last mile is along the seafront road, with thousands of cheering spectators expected alongside, and the race finishes on Madeira Drive - just east of the famous Brighton Pier.
