'Touching Art' exhibition
Artsdepot's Apthorp Gallery features a free exhibition of artworks by deafblind artists entitled 'Touching Art'. Touch is vital to the deafblind artists who have created the works that are on show at the exhibition. The exhibition encourages visitors to explore the art work through touch, creating a tactile and truly sensory experience that reflects the way in which the art has been made. You can view more about the exhibition and a selection of artworks on this website.
Recreating the Nalaga’at experience
Throughout the performances, artsdepot is transformed to recreate the experience of the Nalaga’at Centre in Jaffa, Israel. As well as the theatre space, the café area is transformed into Café Kapish, where deaf waiters encourage guests to order using simple sign language menus. Plus people wanting a pre-dinner drink are able to visit the BlackOut bar, where they will be guided to their table and served by blind waiters.
To book a table at either Cafe Kapish or the BlackOut bar for pre or post performance food and drink please contact artsdepot directly at info@artsdepot.co.uk or via telephone on 020 8369 5454. It is anticipated that these experiences will sell out, so booking in advance is recommended.
