Two car enthusiasts have ‘pimped up’ a 15-year-old £150 Ford Probe with a chocolatey theme, hoping to turn a lifelong ambition into £2,000 cash for Sense.
On 27 July, Stella White and David Steward from Yorkshire and Birmingham will be driving to Calais to start the ‘Home 2 Rome’ rally, which will take place over five days.
The Grand Tour to Rome was started in the 17th Century and involved young English gentlemen travelling to Paris, Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome over three or four years, taking in and celebrating the culture as they went. Sense’s dynamic duo are aiming to do the same thing in just five days!
Stella said: “Our car will certainly be a chocolate sensory experience with mountains of chocolate to fuel us for the journey. Plus we wanted to not only raise money, but also raise awareness of the challenges faced by deafblind people.”
The rally is approximately 2,000 miles, from Calais to Rome, so Stella and David hope to raise a pound a mile for Sense.
