Tottenham charity shop is on the hunt for local hero

A Tottenham High Street charity shop which had a fire stamped out by a customer is on the hunt for a hero to say huge, heartfelt thanks for selflessly saving their store during the riots.

Manager Sue Bitherey of the Sense charity store says, “We are so lucky that we have a shop left at all. When we finally got back into the shop last week a customer, Roland, who is in his late 30s popped in and told us in person that he stamped out the flames that had spread from the blazing bus on the night of the riots.

But when he came in, we were so shocked to hear it all, that we couldn’t take it all in and now we want to give proper thanks to him for risking his life, putting out the fire and ensuring the shop is still standing, that we have jobs and that we can continue to raise funds for deafblind people.”

If you are Roland or know him please contact Sue in Sense at 484, High Street, Tottenham or telephone her on 020 8808 6808.
