The London Olympics 2012 organisation (LOCOG) are calling for volunteers who are deafblind and / or have other disability to help with running the Olympics in 2012.
The organisers are asking for up to 70,000 volunteers, so called ‘Games Makers’, and are strongly encouraging disabled people to apply.
For volunteers it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play an important role in one of the biggest and most memorable events ever to be held in the UK. The Olympics will be a great place to try something new and to build new skills.
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers must:
- be 18 years old by 1 January 2012
- volunteer for a minimum of 10 days at either the Olympic or Paralympic Games, or for a minimum of 20 days if volunteering at both
- be allowed to volunteer in the UK according to UK immigration laws
- be able to go to a minimum of three training sessions prior to the Games
- agree to undergo, and pass, certain security and background checks.
How to apply
The organisers want to make sure that everyone has plenty of time to apply and can access whatever assistance is required.
Every applicant will be expected to go through the full recruitment process, which will include completing an application form and attending selection and training events.
