Interview requests

Sense can provide individuals who can speak personally about deafblind issues and disability more generally. Sense also has a team of experts who can provide comment on or be interviewed about a variety of subjects as listed below. Please contact us to arrange an interview.

Campaigns and policy
Sue Brown is head of the campaigns and policy team. She can provide comment or interviews on all of Sense's campaigns, any aspect of government policy on disabled people, and health and social care.

Sense service delivery
Ges Roulstone is Divisional Director for Children and Adults services in Sense.He has worked with disabled people for 30 years. Ges is able to comment on the range of services Sense offers to deafblind children and adults including residential, day services, respite and advocacy.

Education
Sense has a team of experts working to influence national and local government education policies relating to deaf blind children.They can provide comment on educational issues affecting disabled children, the special education system Code of Practice and statutory educational assessments for children and adults.

Community support and information
Malcolm Matthews is Director of Community Support and Information. His involvement in Sense ranges from prevention issues, service provision and family support to policy and the needs of older people.

MMR and volunteering
Joff McGill is head of voluntary services. He can provide comment on Rubella immunisation, the MMR vaccine, volunteering, events and leisure activities for deafblind people and their families.

Usher syndrome
Marylin Kilsby is Sense's contact person for all things Usher. She provides advice, training and information to Usher people, their families and friends and interested professionals.

Older People and Sensory Loss
Liz Duncan's expertise is in the areas of the impact of Dsi (dual sensory impairment) on older people, social care legislation, support services for older people with Dsi and acquired Dsi awareness support issues.

Charity finance
Sense's finance director Derek Pernak's areas of expertise include cover general charity finance, reserves, insurance, banking and full-cost recovery.

Fundraising
Jane Arnell is director of fundraising. She can comment on any aspect of Sense's fundraising activity including specific fundraising events, charitable income and expenditure, direct marketing and trusts.
