There are two groups of people working for local authorities to provide services to deafblind people which meet regularly to share ideas, knowledge and experience. They include deafblind specialist workers, sensory team managers and commissioners. There are two groups, one meeting in the south and one in the north of England. There is also an online discussion group.
Local Authority Workers Deafblind Interest Group - South
LAWDIG meets every three months in the south of England. Each meeting is hosted by a different local authority, and Sense provides the secretariat. Each meeting includes discussion of a specific topic, often including a guest speaker, and time to share information. If you would like to join LAWDIG South please contact the Sense Campaigns team.
Local Authority Deafblind Network – North
(formerly known as: Deafblind Strategy Group Northern Region)
The group was founded in 2000 by a group of Local Authority professionals working with people who have a dual sensory loss. We are open to Local Authority workers with an interest in dual sensory loss. There are four meetings each year: two to the west and two to the east of the Pennines.
The purpose of the group is to promote good practice, share ideas, information and areas of concern and provide peer support.
