Books

Books are available in all accessible formats for deafblind people and they can be borrowed.

RNIB Library Catalogue

This is a comprehensive database of alternative format books and information held by around 100 organisations across the UK - all brought together for the first time in one easily searchable place.

The service offers a choice of formats available to people who cannot read standard print, including audio cassettes, braille, talking book format, DAISY digital talking book, large print, giant print, moon, braille music, tactile graphics and audio described video. Talking books

For those with enough remaining hearing, talking books offer a chance to enjoy your favourite authors. Unlike books on tape, talking books are not abridged.

Braille and moon books

A wide selection of books are available in this format.

The National Library for the Blind holds the UK's largest braille and moon collections as well as offering a range of other library services specifically with blind and deafblind people in mind. For more information, visit the National Library for the Blind section on RNIB website.

Large print

Many libraries and bookshops stock large print books. Alternatively, the RNIB has a list of large print publishers available on their website.
