Volunteering in a Sense service
We often need volunteers in our services around England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Our wide range of roles mean that volunteers can help deafblind people to become more independent or reduce isolation by enabling them to share experiences and activities with others or to go away on a break.
"Being a Sense volunteer made me realise even more that I love helping others and want to pursue a career in the non-profit sector."
Sense volunteer
You could find yourself in one of our Sense supported living accommodations assisting young deafblind adults with daily activities, such as encouraging cooking skills, gardening or playing music.
Our forums are Sense-run social get-togethers where deafblind people can meet up. Through these gatherings our volunteer guides and meeting supporters help and join in the fun as deafblind adults of all ages grow as a community and achieve a real sense of strength from sharing with each other.

Diverse roles with Sense see our volunteers guiding deafblind people in developing their campaigning skills around issues that are important to them.
Other volunteers have hugely contributed to deafblind youngsters’ enjoyment of a Harry Potter-themed train trip, a visit to an ice cream factory, and cider farm and fire station tours. Lending support to young people with additional complex needs helps them to experience the same activities and fun as other teenagers.
If you would like to know more about volunteering with Sense in your area, get in touch by filling in a Volunteering enquiry form. Your support can really enhance and change someone’s life – maybe even yours!
