Toy monkey makes it to the London Marathon finish line in just 3.19!
20 April 2013
Teddy, a toy monkey who’s helping Matthew, a 4-year-old deafblind child to learn sign language, joined this year’s Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for Sense, the national deafblind charity. Teddy couldn’t run the gruelling 26.2 miles on his own, so Matt Brand (36) from Northampton, Matthew’s uncle, volunteered to help him get to the end in one piece. The pair completed the world famous race in just 3.19!
Matt said: “It was an amazing experience and I’m really pleased that all the hard work paid off! The thrill of crossing the finish line was enormous as was knowing I’m helping to support deafblind children, like Matthew, achieve their own goals.”
Matt Brand raised £1,800 for Sense. To help him raise more vital funds for Sense, please visit: www.virginmoneygiving.com/mattbrand. His fundraising page will remain open for 3 more months.
