Successful Ditch and Switch in Birmingham

17 February 2012

Sense fundraising volunteer, Zoe Baxter organised her first 'Ditch and Switch' fashionable clothes swapping event in Birmingham city centre on Saturday 11 February. People from around the West Midlands area participated in the event which raised crucial funds for Sense.

The event was held at the Urban Coffee shop. The venue was suitable for an afternoon of clothes swapping and coffee for local people and traders. This was an opportunity for people to socialise and learn more about the work that the charity does.

The guests had to purchase a ticket before attending the event so that they could bring their items to the event to swap. All of the 'swishers' left the venue with something new for keeping themselves warm from the cold weather.

Zoe is a student at Birmingham University and spent about a month preparing for the event. She was delighted with the result and said,

"It was a really fun and relaxed day that managed to spread the word about the fantastic work that Sense does with deafblind people. After our guests had bagged their perfect outfits there were still plenty of clothes left over to donate to our local Sense shop that had done a great job in working with us to sort and prepare the clothes. The event was quite straightforward to organise but had a really positive impact. I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone that helped on the day and donated prizes and gifts for our guests."
