Sense Stables

The Sense Stables are the only stables in the UK entirely adapted for the complex and specific needs of deafblind people.
The Stables, which serves deafblind people from Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire, were opened by HRH The Princess Royal in 2007.
They are a unique educational centre. Our Stables are a classroom, where every aspect of horse care and yard work is adapted so that deafblind people can participate in every aspect of stable life.
We are delighted to have celebrity ambassadors lending their support to the Sense Stables:
- Nicki Chapman, Broadcaster and Presenter
- Nicola Wilson, part of Team GB’s Olympic silver medal winning eventing team at London 2012
- Susan George, Actress, passionate horse lover and Arabian horse breeder
- Sarah Fisher, animal behaviour expert and horse lover, and her partner, actor Anthony Head

Daily life at the Stables

Person centred approach
Every regular attendee has an individual programme of development, with clear aims and objectives.
We help them build their confidence, learn new skills, achieve independence, stretch themselves so they discover what they are capable of, as well as develop a sense of self-worth. The Stables have been used to modify the behaviour of institutionalised attendees and, of course, this gives enormous and continued pleasure to participants. The Sense Stables are entirely funded by charitable donations.
