Press release: Royal sense of occasion for Manor House night worker
15 July 2011
One of Market Deeping’s Manor House night support workers was nominated to attend the Queen’s annual garden party on
12 July at Buckingham Palace.
Lynn Dolby, aged 60, has been a night support worker for Sense for the past 24 years and was delighted to be nominated for her long years of service in response to HRH The Princess Royal’s invitation.
A mum of three girls, Lynn opted to attend with her eldest daughter Emma Jarvis, aged 37, a deputy sister at Stamford Hospital. Lynn joked that she was inviting her daughters in age order, starting with the oldest first and that "next time I attend I’ll bring my middle daughter."
Lynn said "I relished the day and seeing Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. There were so many people there in all their finery. I love my work with Sense and supporting deafblind people and being chosen to go to Buckingham Palace is an incredible recognition of the work we all do."
Lynn also thoroughly enjoyed a shopping spree in advance to choose the crucial statement outfit to make her palace debut, opting for a simple black and white dress to compliment with her daughter, adding a splash of vivid colour with pink shoes, a pink handbag and fascinator to make up the complete outfit.
