Contact local media

Contact your local newspaper, radio or television and suggest that they do a feature on the changes that are needed to bus passes. This could get more disabled people involved, persuade your local authority to improve their local scheme and influence your MP.

The media want to create features that grab people’s attention. So, explain why this would be an interesting feature for them to do. Tell them about the problems you have with the national bus passes. This will help them to understand why it would make a good feature.

Offer to be interviewed or to let a reporter accompany you on a journey. Dealing with the media may feel intimidating but don’t be scared! Remember that they want to make a good feature and so they will make it as easy as possible for you.

You can download the template letter to media to help you on this page and you will need to adapt it for your own situation.
