Claire Rayner, broadcaster, author and health campaigner has a very personal reason for supporting Sense's older person campaign. Claire wears hearing aids in both ears and also has a condition called Age Related Dry Macular Degeneration - a sight loss common in older people. Claire helped Sense to promote The Good Life booklet Claire says, "As we all live longer, more and more of us will lose sight and hearing, some lose both - we need our GPs to be mindful of signs of combined sensory loss so that older people have support and don’t become isolated."
Jay Rayner, author and journalist is the son of Claire Rayner who is also on this list of our celebrity supporters. He is supporting the campaign for older people with sensory loss as he wants people to be aware that their older relatives may be affected by sight and hearing loss.
Stephanie Beacham, actress, said: "My father was deafblind. He became isolated because he did not get support and could no longer take part in his old activities. That's why I support Sense's Fill in the Gaps campaign. If you have an elderly relative and think they are losing their sight and hearing please get in touch with Sense. You can help stop their isolation."

Miriam Margolyes, actress and star of Harry Potter films said: “I've supported Sense, I know what great work they do with people who are deaf and blind. For many older people, difficulty with seeing and hearing means they find it hard to communicate with others or to continue their hobbies. It's vital that friends and family learn to support older people with those difficulties. Sense's `The Good Life’ booklet helps them do this. Get it now!”
