Robin Hood, Leeds Road, Wakefield, WF3 3BG
The resource centre provides a day service from Monday to Friday. The day begins at 10am and ends at 3.30pm. Time is set aside for lunch and refreshment breaks and all food and drinks are provided.
The environment at Rodney Clark Resource Centre has been skillfully designed and adapted to meet the sensory and mobility needs of the deafblind people who access the centre. This includes colour and texture contrasts, and wheelchair access throughout the building.
Following a person-centred approach, which focuses on a thorough assessment of individual needs and wants, each deafblind person has there own daily schedule that they are supported to follow by their key member of support staff. While concentrating on developing ‘skills for life’, each individual is offered a range of opportunities and experiences which provide challenges and satisfaction.
The Resource Centre is a specialist centre for functional and developmental assessment of communication, vision, hearing, mobility and behaviour. It is also the venue for a number of children and family events.
