Bourne Resource Centre, Peterborough
Bourne Resource Centre is located one mile from the centre of Bourne. The Centre provides education and recreational day services for 30 adults who are deafblind.
The day starts at 9.30 am and ends at 4pm, with morning, lunch and afternoon breaks.
Each person who is deafblind has their own Individual Plan, designed to meet their specific requirements. Their week might consist of a combination of programmes including:
- educational courses
- vocational activities
- creative arts
- planned leisure activities
- mobility training
- sensory awareness
- life skills
- work placements
- community based activities.
BRC is a single-storey building comprising of five classrooms, for formal teaching, two classrooms are specifically laid out for craft work such as woodwork, pottery and general crafts.
There is a fully-equipped life skills kitchen with a 'rise-and-fall' sink and a large dining area with trail rails.
