The multi-sensory room incorporates activities which are passive (the emphasis being on relaxation) and fully interactive (the adults access switches to make the equipment function).
It offers a safe haven where adults can relax. It is a defined area that all centre users respect. People are careful not to interrupt and distractions are kept to a minimum.
Equipment can be accessed and switched using remote sensors, switch boards, soft switches, microphones and contact sensors encouraging the users to use their voices to operate lights and sounds in the room, and use different movements to operate equipment.
Through the use of this equipment, deafblind adults can explore cause-and-effect stimulus.
