Sense provides support, information and training to enable deafblind people to live as independently as possible - overcoming barriers and combating the isolation that many older deafblind people experience.
This includes providing communicator-guide schemes in many parts of the country and working with local authorities to help them provide such schemes themselves.
This year (2006/2007) the number of deafblind people receiving a communicator guide service has increased by 4 per cent. This helps them to stay independent and participate in community activities.
Providing 119 deafblind people with a communicator-guide, one-to-one support that helps them to remain independent.
