Last year 489 older people were given individual support by our outreach workers so that they can keep their independence.
In 2006/2007 the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate rated 80% of Sense’s residential services as good or excellent. None were rated as poor. No other care provider achieved this.
Sense East was named one of the five best `Specialist Independent Colleges’ by the Adult Learning Inspectorate for the adult educational services it provides for people with disabilities.
Numerous deafblind individuals have been supported to achieve far more than once seemed possible. In North England, four people were supported to leave long-stay hospitals. They have set up their own homes and now participate in community life for the first time.
All deafblind people who receive intensive direct services from Sense now have their own person centred plan, helping them to make choices about the things they do.
