Gillian Wood, Sense Trustee

I first came into contact with Sense almost twenty years ago but can't remember the first time I met Jessica. It seems that she has always just been there. I only knew Jessica as Chair of Sense, a Trustee of Sense International, a Governor of my son’s school – The Royal School for Deaf Children, Margate, and a friend but I know she did much more.

For days I have struggled with memories and words trying to decide what to contribute to this memorial page for Jessica and then I came across this verse on the Internet called Life Well Lived wriiten by an unknown author:

A life well lived is a precious gift,
of hope and strength and grace,
from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.

It's filled with moments, sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears,
with friendships formed and good times shared,
and laughter through the years.

A life well lived is a legacy,
of joy and pride and pleasure,
a living, lasting memory
our grateful hearts will treasure.

Jessica may no longer be physically with us but her presence will remain with many of us for the rest of our lives through her life’s work.

I thank Jessica for giving herself and her family for sharing her.
