Taking Control
The new strategy's extremely welcome emphasis on deafblind people and their families taking control of their lives fundamentally reinforces the need for us all to recognise the communicative nature of all people's behaviour, the valid expression of individual needs and frustrations and the importance of focussing on every individual's capacity and best interests - without making assumptions.

More flexible services
I welcome this Strategy because it provides us with a fresh focus for our work. i particularly like the emphasis on enabling deafblind people to make choices and call for new, more flexible services.

Information
With the increase in people directing their own support, for example through a personal budget, Sense can play a key role in making sure deafblind people and families have clear information and advice.

Involvement
I am really excited about the emphasis on involvement and action from deafblind people and their families. The strategy is rooted in the needs, wishes and rights of deafblind people.

Really Making a difference
This plan will enable Sense to build on the successes of the past and reach out to many more deafblind people in all areas of theh country. Everyone working for and supporting our work should be really proud about what has been achieved in the past and just as excited about the opportunities and challenges for the future.

FIVE YEAR STRATEGY
Five year plan builds on the brilliant past work of staff in Sense, it is innovative in content, challenging and achievable.
The tools use to communicate the strategy are brilliant - the staff are to be congratulated on this endeavour

This new strategy provides us with a platform to reach a much wider audience, both in terms of those who may receive direct support and services from Sense, and also those who have an interest in our work and may be keen to support it through direct involvement in volunteering and/or fundraising.

It's really good to see a strategy that builds on our existing strenghts and commits increasing resources for a greater impact on the lives of deafblind people.

The new strategy is exciting and will expand our work and not cut it back during the recession. We are positive and look forward to face great challenges ahead of us.
